International Festival

The Bryant/Pattengill annual International Festival will be held at Pattengill this year on Thursday April 26th, 6:30 to 8pm. Celebrate our diversity with food, art, fashion and activities. Would your child like to participate in the fashion show? Can you bring a dish from another country or help with one of our many activity stations? We look forward to celebrating our diversity together as one commUNITY! Please consider volunteering. Fill in the orange participation form sent home last Friday (4/6) or sign up online using the link in the the latest Thursday Notes.

Pajama night and Bryant Book Fair Family Night is Thursday, Mar. 8 at 6pm. Wear your PJs and bring your favorite snuggle friends! We may even have a surprise guest.  We are still in need a few book fair volunteers for the family favorite pajama night event!

On Thursday, Feb. 22, 6:00-7:30pm Bryant will host Kindergarten/Young Fives Round-Up. If you know of any families in the area with soon-to-be Kindergarten or Young Five’s age children, please invite them to our school. We’d love to have them join our pawsome family!

NAAPID/Parent Involvement Day, Feb 12: Our annual N.A.A.P.I.D/Parent Involvement Day is today, Monday, Feb 12. This is a day designated to encourage all parents to connect with their child’s school and become more involved in their education. National African American Parent Involvement Day (N.A.A.P.I.D.) is a national initiative started by the late Joe Dulin, a former Ann Arbor principal. We invite ALL parents to join us for programs at Bryant/Pattengill. Our theme this year is Parenting in the 21st Century. Bryant will feature a continental breakfast (8:50-9:45 am) and presentation by Marnise Roberts, author of Friendly Not Friends- How to Do the Hard Job of Parenting and Still Have Fun. Pattengill will feature a luncheon (11:30-1:15 pm) and include a presentation by Jonathan M. Wynne, author of IMPACT PARENTING: Raising College-Ready Students, (12:00-12:45 pm). Please plan to come out and hear these awesome speakers. ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND! Tech it out at Pattengill Tech Night TONIGHT, Thursday, Dec. 7, 6:00-7:30pm and see the technology displays that Pattengill students, teachers, and local businesses have created. Pizza will be available from 5:45-6:45 (or until it sells out). In between the presentations, be sure to visit the Pattengill Book Fair (6-7:30pm), to shop for books and other goodies for the whole family. We look forward to seeing all of our Bryant/Pattengill families support this commUNITY event!

Make Way for Writing: The Family Writing Project

Presented by: The Eastern Michigan Writing Project

When: Thursdays (10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/16) from 4:15-6:15pm

Where: Bryant Media Center at Bryant Elementary School

Light Snack: 4:15pm

Workshop: 4:45-6:15pm

Please join us as we gather together as families to experience the joy of sharing and writing stories about favorite play places.  All families are welcome, but English Learner (EL) students and their families are especially invited to attend and write in their native language.  We hope to provide original writings and translations in a book of writing created during the workshop series.  Each family will receive a copy.  Childcare will be provided for non-school aged children.  

Families will meet on three different occasions to brainstorm, write, collaborate, revise, and edit their writing.  At the final and fourth session, family members will participate in a Celebration of Family Writing and learn practical tips about how to continue the family writing project at home.

Title 1/ELL/RI Family Night

Save the date! On Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 5:30pm-6:30pm at Bryant we will have a Title 1/ELL(English Language Learner)/RI (Reading Intervention) Family Night for our families that have students in these programs. Ms. Metler (ELL Teacher), Mr. Kinasz (Title 1 Teacher), and Mrs. Harrington (Reading Intervention Teacher) will be speaking at this event. If your student(s) is in one or more of these programs, come learn more and get any questions you may have answered.
